Ali Velshi Says “Welcome, Camericans!”

The MSNBC host and Citizen board member explains how Canadian-Americans would be a disappointment to Donald Trump's designs

Donald Trump has proclaimed his territorial designs on Panama, Gaza, Greenland and Canada. Canadian-born Ali Velshi breaks down what it would actually mean for Canada to join the United States, and as it turns out, the president would be deeply disappointed with Camericans.

While Trump thinks Canada could just be the 51st state, the nation would at least number states 51 through 60. That’s not the two senators Trump envisions, but 20. Furthermore, the 41 million Canadians would warrant per the 1929 Reapportionment Act, which set the House membership at a max of 435 members 47 representatives for the new citizens would need to be removed from other existing U.S. states.

And as it turns out, Canadians, and thus his newly absorbed Americans, are absolutely not the conservative population he wants. Canadians enjoy universal healthcare, strong environmental policy, and consistently vote for their liberal politicians at a rate of about 60 percent. Unfortunately, Canada has made it clear there is not a “snowball’s chance in hell” that they’ll be joining the United States of America.
