Ali Velshi Compares Nepotism and Corruption, Trumps vs. Bidens

MSNBC anchor and Citizen Board member points out the differences in scope and scale of the allegations against Hunter Biden vs. those against Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner

Hunter Biden was indicted last week for failing to disclose drug use on a gun permit application in 2018, a violation of federal law. Some Republicans in Congress have seized the opportunity to build an impeachment case against President Joe Biden, alleging nepotism, corruption, and grifting. To Ali Velshi, this effort is “rich,” considering these same legislators ignored a laundry list of nepotism during the Trump administration.

Some corruption highlights from Trump’s four years in office:

  • Trump gave daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner powerful senior advisor roles — even though the couple had zero policymaking experience.
  • Ivanka Trump had shady business deals going back to 2012 — some of which nearly led to her own indictment.
  • At the White House, Ivanka Trump obtained multiple Chinese patents while her father was trying to broker a trade deal with China.
  • Kushner receive federal dollars to build a Covid-related website that never happened.
  • While at the White House, he founded a new business that secured a 2-billion-dollar investment from a Saudi company, thanks to the endorsement of the Crown Prince (yes, that Crown Prince, “the bone saw guy”).
