As Ali Velshi continues his deep dive inside Project 2025, the nearly 1,000-page authoritarian blueprint for a new Trump administration, he lays out its Christian Nationalist vision for the American family and how the U.S. government would legislate this vision.
The majority of American families today are non-traditional, which, according to Project 2025, is a “threat to family security” and, therefore, America. Only the heterosexual nuclear family is acceptable, as defined on page 451: “a married mother, father, and their children.”
These proposals for the American family insert government into the affairs of your life — and your bedroom — in an unprecedented and invasive manner. Families who do not meet the definition in the document will be stripped of protections from discrimination and denied benefits like food assistance and healthcare, while LGBTQ+ families will be criminalized.
So much for small government.
