Editor’s note: On September 15, the Honorable Paul S. Diamond issued a 40-page order removing District Attorney Larry Krasner and Matthew Stiegler, the chief of the DA’s Conviction Integrity Unit, from the case involving Dennis Johnson.
In his introduction, Diamond made clear what’s at stake: “The record confirms that what the supervisors deem a “conflict” is also evidence of possible criminal wrongdoing by Mr. Krasner and Stiegler. In these circumstances, I am compelled, with the issuance of this Memorandum, to refer the DAO, Mr. Krasner, and Stiegler to this District’s United States Attorney’s Office for investigation and other appropriate action.”
Read the full order below, and decide for yourself if our duly elected DA should be subjected to a full investigation — or more.
