Citizen editor Larry Platt, co-author of Every Day I Fight, the New York Times bestselling memoir of the late ESPN broadcaster and cancer fighter Stuart Scott, will sign copies of the book on Thursday, May 7 at the 17th Annual Evening in the Park gala benefiting the Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia. Proceeds from the evening’s sale of books will go to CSC. In addition, publisher Penguin/Random House is donating a percentage of the proceeds of all books sold to cancer charities.
Scott’s story poignantly illustrates the need for charities like CSC. “We provide warmth, togetherness, positivity and understanding to those diagnosed with cancer,” says board member Wendy Rosen, who will be honored at the gala. “While I can never give a large enough donation to actually help cure cancer, I can see that my donation to the CSC goes immediately to work, improving the lives of those living with cancer.”
