VIDEO—Citizen Speaks: Athletes & Civic Engagement

Charles Barkley & Connor Barwin on Sept. 8, 2015

On Tuesday, as part of our Citizen Speaks event series, NBA superstar Charles Barkley and Eagles All-Pro linebacker Connor Barwin talked about how professional athletes can make a social impact on their cities in a discussion moderated by Citizen editor Larry Platt.

Thanks to our event partner, The Brownstein Group, and to Arch Street Presbyterian Church for hosting us.

The Philadelphia Citizen will only publish thoughtful, civil posts. We want to be a communal space. But that doesn’t mean you have a First Amendment right to be an idiot. Send us an insulting, offensive and/or wildly off-topic comment and not only will we refrain from posting it -- we will laugh at you before we hit delete.
